When business leased lines isn’t working for your business

Start with what’s going wrong, understand the operational impact and choose the right solution before committing to a supplier.

The problem

A shared connection struggles with critical workloads, uploads are unpredictable, outages take too long to resolve or the business cannot get clarity on installation costs.

The business risk

Lost orders, inaccessible cloud systems, disrupted phone calls and downtime across multiple employees or sites can cost far more than the monthly connection fee.

The answer

Compare dedicated bandwidth, symmetrical capacity, fault-restoration commitments, installation surveys, resilience and the total contract cost. Our calculator offers indicative pricing from one connected provider; final prices require address checks.

Leased line or full fibre broadband?

A leased line can be appropriate where consistent symmetrical capacity and contracted service levels matter. For many smaller offices, full fibre broadband can offer better value. Ask providers for a full-address quotation, including installation and contract costs.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a leased line cost?

Pricing varies by site, circuit bandwidth and installation. The existing calculator offers an indicative postcode-based starting point; the final quote requires supplier confirmation. Leased-line pricing depends on your address, bandwidth, contract term, local network availability and potential installation or construction work. A quotation should distinguish recurring rental, installation charges, equipment and service levels. Consider whether your business needs a dedicated connection and what an outage costs, rather than assuming the lowest monthly rate is best.

Is the calculator a multi-provider comparison?

At present, the calculator uses one connected pricing provider. We do not present its result as a comparison of multiple live suppliers. No. The current leased-line price calculator uses indicative pricing from one supplier, not a live market-wide comparison. Treat it as an initial guide only; actual availability, construction, service levels and contractual terms need confirmation. Supplier Synergy can help businesses assess appropriate third-party options separately without implying the tool already compares several networks.

What is the difference between a leased line and DIA?

Dedicated Internet Access is often delivered using a leased-line circuit in the UK, so service terms and specifications are more useful than labels. Dedicated Internet Access describes a dedicated internet service, while a leased line commonly describes the private physical circuit or access technology used to deliver it. Suppliers may use the terms interchangeably in sales material, so compare the actual bandwidth guarantee, symmetry, contention, repair commitment and resilience. Confirm what is being quoted rather than judging from the product name alone.

Does Supplier Synergy install leased lines?

No. We help assess third-party providers who deliver and support the chosen circuit. No. We help businesses compare providers and evaluate requirements; appointed network operators or service providers carry out installation and ongoing delivery. Ask who owns the circuit, who deals with faults and which response commitments are included. Our supplier-funded matching service has no additional consultancy fee for the business.

Switching and comparing providers

Can we change leased line provider at the end of our contract?

Yes, but a replacement leased line may require a fresh survey, installation or changes to the service handoff. Start the review well before your current term ends and confirm notice requirements and any construction charges. Ask whether the existing fibre infrastructure can be reused, what resilience is available and how the new service would be tested before the old one is cancelled. The cheapest headline quote is not always the best value if installation timing or downtime risk is significant.
