When dedicated internet access isn’t working for your business
Start with what’s going wrong, understand the operational impact and choose the right solution before committing to a supplier.
The problem
Critical applications need more predictable performance than the current business broadband; upload demand is high or outages affect multiple locations.
The business risk
Disrupted voice, cloud, payment or operational systems, plus failed uploads and costly downtime, can undermine customer service and staff productivity.
The answer
Define business-critical capacity, service-level commitments, resilience and recovery expectations. DIA is often delivered using a leased-line circuit in the UK, so compare the actual specification and cost rather than the label alone.
Why Supplier Synergy
We help establish requirements and assess external connectivity specialists, their service levels and their contract terms, without an additional fee for supplier matching.
Dedicated Internet Access
Explore dedicated internet options for critical applications, multi-site operations and demanding business connectivity requirements.
Connectivity that fits your business
Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) is designed for organisations that need committed bandwidth and contractual service commitments. In the UK, a leased line is commonly used to deliver DIA, so we compare the real service requirements rather than treating labels as entirely separate technologies.
Supplier Synergy helps identify and compare suitable third-party connectivity providers. Your chosen supplier delivers the contracted service directly. Our supplier-funded matching service carries no additional consultancy fee.

For business-critical cloud, voice or data workloads, committed capacity can be valuable. For other organisations, business-grade FTTP may be sufficient and less costly. First define your outage tolerance, upload demand, security needs and budget.

Frequently asked questions
Is DIA the same as a leased line?
A leased-line circuit is a common UK delivery method for Dedicated Internet Access. Review the supplier’s exact specification. They are closely related but not identical terms. DIA is dedicated internet connectivity, often delivered using a leased fibre circuit. Some providers refer to both as leased lines, while others distinguish the physical connection from the managed internet service. Check symmetrical committed bandwidth, contention, router management and SLA detail before comparing quotations.
Is DIA better than FTTP?
Not in every case. DIA can suit critical services while FTTP often provides excellent value where available. Not necessarily. FTTP can be a cost-effective choice for many businesses, but DIA is generally chosen when dedicated capacity, stronger repair commitments and predictable performance are commercially important. Consider how many staff depend on real-time services, whether uploads are critical and how much downtime the business can tolerate. Comparing actual service specifications is more useful than assuming one technology is universally better.
Can I add failover?
Suitable providers may offer backup or diverse connectivity. Confirm which failure scenarios each option protects against. Often, yes. A secondary connection, mobile service or alternative network route can support continuity, but failover must be configured and tested. Ask whether the backup uses genuinely separate infrastructure, which services switch automatically and what happens to public IP addresses or incoming calls. Resilience needs to be designed around your business, not just added as a second monthly subscription.
Does Supplier Synergy supply dedicated internet?
No. We help businesses assess external suppliers who provide the contracted service. No. Supplier Synergy independently helps identify suitable third-party DIA providers. The selected service provider delivers and supports the connection under its quotation and agreement. We can help you compare bandwidth, service-level commitments, installation risk and resilience options without charging an additional consultancy fee for matching.
Switching and comparing providers
What if we already have DIA and want a better deal or stronger resilience?
A contract renewal is a good opportunity to assess bandwidth utilisation, service-level commitments, support responsiveness and the real cost of downtime. You may not need more capacity; better resilience, a clearer repair commitment or an alternative access route could be more valuable. Compare providers on installation requirements, contention arrangements, equipment, repair processes and the full contract cost. If dual connections are proposed, ask whether they share infrastructure that could fail together.
